Bible King James Version with Apocrypha

The King James Version (KJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV) or the King James Bible (KJB), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England. It was started in 1604 and completed in 1611. First printed by Robert Barker, the King's Printer, this translation was the third to be approved by the English Church authorities.

The KJV includes the Apocrypha, which are a collection of ancient books found in some editions of the Bible, either in a separate section between the Old and New Testaments or as an appendix after the New Testament. However, Book of Enoch, Jasher, and Jubilees are not included in the Apocrypha, so they are separated in the Table of Contents and in the Search function. Furthermore, these books are not included in the Reading Plan and Daily Verses. If desired, you can remove them by going to Menu->Settings->switch off "Show Enoch/Jasher/Jubilees".

The KJV offers several useful features, such as Daily Verse (including Daily Psalm and Daily Gospel — you can even create your own Daily Verse) and Reading Plan (including options to read the Bible in one year, 180 days, or 90 days). It also provides an Audio Bible feature with Text-to-Speech (TTS) capability, along with many other functions.

In translating the KJV, King James I of England provided instructions to ensure that the new version conformed to the ecclesiology and reflected the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy. The translation was carried out by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England. The New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew, and the Apocrypha were translated from Greek and Latin sources.

The inclusion of the Apocrypha in the Bible has been a subject of debate. The term "apocrypha," meaning "hidden," refers to these ancient books that were not universally accepted as canonical. In Luther's Bible of 1534, the Apocrypha was first published as a separate section, reflecting his view on their canonicity. St. Jerome's distinction between the Hebrew and Greek Old Testaments served as an authority for this division. Despite controversy, Jerome's authority was recognized by the Anglican Church in its 1571 statement known as the Thirty-Nine Articles.

In the English-language KJV of 1611, an intertestamental section labeled "Books called Apocrypha" or just "Apocrypha" appears at the running page header, following the example set by the Geneva Bible of 1560. This section includes the following books: 1 Esdras (Vulgate 3 Esdras), 2 Esdras (Vulgate 4 Esdras), Tobit, Judith ("Judeth" in Geneva), Rest of Esther (Vulgate Esther 10:4-16:24), Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus (also known as Sirach), Baruch and the Epistle of Jeremy ("Jeremiah" in Geneva) (all part of Vulgate Baruch), Song of the Three Children (Vulgate Daniel 3:24-90), Story of Susanna (Vulgate Daniel 13), The Idol Bel and the Dragon (Vulgate Daniel 14), and Prayer of Manasses (following 2 Chronicles in Geneva), as well as 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees.

Although Luther did not include these books in his canon, they were retained in the Apocrypha section of the KJV. These books are most commonly referred to as "the Apocrypha" and are also listed in Article VI of the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Church of England. However, in some printings of the King James Bible, they are included under the Old Testament in the table of lessons at the front.
